The King Room

The King Room at Old Abingdon Bed and Breakfast An Irish immigrant, William King, came down the Great Wagon Road from Philadelphia and settled in Abingdon in 1794. He built a fortune at the Saltworks in Saltville and, upon his death in 1808, his generous bequest helped endow Abingdon Male Academy, site of the present day William King Regional Arts Center. The King Room is decorated in deep Irish green to honor his heritage and continuing legacy.
